What is Thyroid Cancer
Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor that grows from the thyroid gland epithelium. There are several types of cells that exist in the thyroid gland – A, B and C. If cancer starts to develop from A and B cells that produce thyroid gland hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine, differentiated types of thyroid cancer occur. They are follicular and papillary thyroid cancer. The situation may result in a very rare and dangerous tumor – anaplastic thyroid cancer. If it’s about C-type cells, encephaloid thyroid cancer occurs. It’s also called medullary carcinoma of the thyroid gland or C-cells cancer.
